WEST COAST FARMERS, WHOLESALERS DONATE PRODUCE DESPITE FINANCIAL DIFFICULTIES

2 Mar 2021 By Wartawan Nabalu News KOTA KINABALU: Despite the economic hardships due to Covid-19 pandemic, the Sabah West Coast Vegetables and Fruits Farmers and Wholesalers continue to donate agricultural produce to various institutions in Penampang. Kapayan Assemblywoman Jannie Lasimbang said she is proud for the commitment made by the association to help other pandemic-affected Sabahans.

She said farmers and vendors were happy to donate their produce instead of just throwing away surpluses.

A total of 150 bags of vegetables under the Kapayan Food Bank were donated to the district Police Department, Fire and Rescue Department, Kapayan Prison, as well as to the Convent Sisters in Dontozidon, Tanjung Aru, and St. Joseph Penampang. "The Kapayan Food Bank, which is coordinated by my constituency office is doing an ongoing fund-raising and also receiving donations in kind for those in need during this hard time" Jannie said. In February, the Kapayan Food Bank also received donations from Lions Club Kota Kinabalu and the Donggongon Tai Pak Kung temple.
