KUALA LUMPUR: To enhance access to Digital Public Infrastructure (DPI) services in Malaysia, the ASEAN region, and beyond, the World Bank Group, through its private sector arm the International Finance Corporation (IFC), has announced an equity investment in Zetrix AI Berhad.

IFC’s RM155.6 million (USD40 million) investment will support the development and deployment of innovative, blockchain-based DPI applications and AI-enabled solutions aimed at fostering digital inclusion, improving service access, and boosting economic efficiency across Malaysia and the wider ASEAN region.

In Malaysia, these services will integrate with the nation’s digital ecosystem via MyDigital ID, the digital identity system, and the Malaysia Blockchain Infrastructure (MBI), the country’s national blockchain network.

Zetrix AI’s DPI solutions are designed to make services more efficient, secure, and cost-effective, from digital ID verification to digitalising international trade and tokenising real-world assets. The investment will also facilitate Zetrix AI’s expansion into emerging markets within ASEAN and globally.

“This investment underscores IFC’s commitment to supporting Malaysia’s digital transformation in line with the Thirteenth Malaysia Plan, 2026–2030,” said Judith Green, World Bank Group Country Manager for Malaysia. “Developing Digital Public Infrastructure is crucial for improving public service delivery, strengthening economic competitiveness, and ensuring inclusive, sustainable growth.”

“Such investments enable us to scale innovative digital solutions and build resilient, secure, and interoperable systems that broaden access to services and opportunities for people and businesses in Malaysia and across emerging markets in ASEAN,” she added.

TS Wong, Group Managing Director of Zetrix AI, commented: “From digital IDs to digitised customs processing, to large language models and stablecoins, our cross-border blockchain and AI use cases are designed to catalyse transformative change across ASEAN and deepen socio-economic integration in the region. With IFC’s participation and market access, we will accelerate our global expansion plans.”
