PENAMPANG: Yayasan Bank Rakyat (YBR) laudable achievements throughout its establishment period included being named the Best Foundation 2023 for the Banking category by CSR Award Malaysia three times in a row.

Yayasan Bank Rakyat Chairman Datuk Philip Lasimbang said, in addition to the findings of WIKI IMPACT, YBR was listed as one of the seven foundations that received full marks for each transparency assessment conducted by more than 1,600 foundations throughout Malaysia.

"This achievement is proof of the commitment, discipline and high spirit of every employee of Yayasan Bank Rakyat in fighting for education to improve the country's education," he said.

He said this while speaking at the 2022 SPM and STPM Outstanding Student Incentive Presentation Ceremony, at SM St.Michael Penampang Hall, here, today.

The ceremony was officiated by the Minister of Entrepreneurship and Cooperative Development who is also the Penampang Member of Parliament Datuk Ewon Benedick.

Philip said that YBR is one of the best educational funding bodies that provide various types of assistance to the underprivileged community, especially in educational development.

"The Bank Rakyat Foundation places great emphasis on the issue of education because one of the objectives of the establishment of the foundation is to improve the socio-economic status of the community through the value of sustainable education," he said.

According to him, a sum of RM61,500 in cash incentives was provided by YBR to 146 exceptional students in Penampang in 2022. These students were selected from SPM and STPM examinations.

"For SPM students with excellent results of 6A, each student received RM350. Additionally, students with 7A (26 students) received RM400, while those with 8A (27 students) were given RM450. Students who achieved results of 9A and above, totaling 17 students, received RM500," he explained.

He further mentioned that outstanding STPM students who attained results between 3.00 and 3.49 were granted RM400, while students with results of 3.5 and above were given RM500.

He expressed his hope that these incentives would assist the students in alleviating the financial burdens associated with pursuing higher education.

"I firmly believe that this ceremony, which acknowledges outstanding students, aligns with our objective of motivating both students and teachers to continue striving for excellence," he added.
