KUALA LUMPUR: Zetrix AI Berhad ("Zetrix AI"), formerly known as MY E.G. Services Berhad, today announced the launch of NurAI, the world’s first Shariah-compliant, Islamic values-based large language model ("LLM"). Developed in accordance with Islamic principles and reflecting the worldview of the Global South, NurAI provides guidance aligned with Shariah rulings across a broad range of topics—from contemporary issues such as law, healthcare, and finance to classical Islamic themes including history, philosophy, and Quranic studies.

The launch event, held at the Four Seasons Hotel Kuala Lumpur and officiated by Dato’ Seri Dr. Ahmad Zahid Hamidi, Deputy Prime Minister of Malaysia, was organised in conjunction with the ASEAN AI Malaysia Summit 2025.

As a pioneering initiative, NurAI offers Muslim-majority nations and communities an alternative to existing Western and Chinese AI models, which often lack alignment with Islamic values and the developmental priorities of the Global South. Beyond serving individual users, NurAI aims to lay the foundation for a broader digital Islamic economy infrastructure, spanning halal trade, supply chains, Islamic finance, and governance, thereby strengthening AI sovereignty in emerging markets.

“This represents a significant step towards harmonising religion and technology for the benefit of the ummah and national progress. I call upon all stakeholders, including government, private sector, financial institutions, and religious authorities, to fully support the development and expansion of technologies like NurAI,” said Dato’ Seri Dr. Ahmad Zahid Hamidi.

A distinctive feature of NurAI is its AI Avatar channels, which enable users to interact with virtual avatars modelled after experts across various fields. Trained with exclusive datasets, these channels embody the knowledge and pedagogical style of their respective specialists. Essentially, users can engage with an AI companion that functions as a personal ustaz or Islamic finance expert, capable of delivering personalised conversations. Unlike many large language models that produce broad, generalised answers, NurAI’s Avatar channels provide deeper, more nuanced insights, especially on topics requiring careful interpretation and understanding. The NurAI team plans to introduce an Islamic Finance channel in partnership with INCEIF University, an affiliate of Bank Negara Malaysia, alongside channels featuring leading Islamic scholars from around the world.

Developed under the guidance of a formal Shariah Supervisory Board, NurAI adheres strictly to Islamic ethics and principles, offering a trustworthy, principled platform.

The development team will collaborate with key religious bodies, including JAKIM (Malaysian Islamic Development Department), the Indonesian Ulama Council (MUI), the International Islamic Fiqh Academy (IIFA), and Al-Azhar University in Egypt, to establish a Shariah-aligned framework.

NurAI serves as a foundational LLM upon which advanced, domain-specific AI applications can be built, enabling tailored solutions for sectors such as Islamic finance, education, governance, and halal industry regulation.
