KADAMAIAN: A total of 148 churches throughout Kadamaian have received donations amounting to RM148,000 from the Deputy Chief Minister III and Sabah Minister of Industrial Development, Entrepreneur and Transport, Datuk Ewon Benedick.
Ewon, who is also the Kadamaian State Assemblyman (ADUN), said the contributions were intended to assist each church in making preparations to celebrate Christmas or the New Year 2026.
Each church received RM1,000.
“As the Kadamaian ADUN, I introduced this form of assistance several years ago to religious bodies in Kadamaian to help them prepare for religious celebrations.
“For churches, they receive a total contribution of RM2,000, RM1,000 for Easter celebrations and another RM1,000 for Christmas or New Year celebrations, which will be disbursed before the dates of both celebrations.
“Similarly, mosques and suraus also receive RM2,000, RM1,000 for Hari Raya Aidilfitri and another RM1,000 for Hari Raya Aidiladha,” he said.
Ewon stated that such contributions could foster a sense of belonging, pride and togetherness among the people of Kadamaian.

“I want to see the people of Kadamaian develop a stronger sense of belonging through my high regard for religious events, which are supported via the Kadamaian ADUN’s Sentuhan Kasih allocation.
“I consistently encourage all residents of Kadamaian who live as neighbours and within communities to continue strengthening ties, unity, peace, harmony, cooperation and togetherness within Kadamaian’s neighbourhoods.
“The unique diversity of races, religions and cultures among the people of Sabah is the main strength of the ‘Sabah First’ spirit that must be preserved,” he said.
