KOTA KINABALU: A pro–Gabungan Rakyat Sabah (GRS) political activist, Aksyah Nasrah, has described 2026 as a crucial starting point for charting the direction of Sabah Maju Jaya 2.0 (SMJ 2.0) after the people of Sabah made a clear decision in the 17th State Legislative Assembly General Election (PRU DUN).
According to him, the transition into the new year comes after 2025 went down in history as one of the most challenging and tense years, with the 17th PRU DUN serving as the determinant of the state’s leadership direction and future.
“Victory has sided with Gabungan Rakyat Sabah (GRS) to continue as the pillar of the GRSPlus Government for the next five years,” he said in a Facebook post in conjunction with the year-end today.
Aksyah said that the reappointment of Datuk Seri Panglima Hajiji Noor as Chief Minister of Sabah for the 17th State Assembly term is a great trust that must be fully utilised for the prosperity and well-being of the people.
He stressed that the people’s decision in the 17th PRU DUN should also be seen as a clear referendum that Sabahans want local parties to remain at the core of the state’s leadership, in order to ensure continuity and effective implementation of SMJ 2.0.
“All these decisions for the people of Sabah that they may enjoy the prosperity and well-being planned under the direction of SMJ 2.0,” he said.
Commenting on the year 2026 which is about to begin, Aksyah said that the Chief Minister had earlier outlined a new administrative approach, including an emphasis on the implementation of infrastructure projects and institutional reforms through government-linked companies (GLCs).
In this regard, he called on all Sabahans to lower the political temperature and give their full attention to the implementation of the development agenda planned under SMJ 2.0.
Lets focus on implementation after implementation of SMJ 2.0 which is about to begin, he said.
He also expressed confidence that the people expect a more effective government service delivery system so that the policies of the GRSPlus Government can truly bring a life of peace, prosperity, stability and well-being to all Sabahans.
Aksyah also took the opportunity to wish everyone a Happy New Year 2026, with the hope that Sabah will continue to move forward under the current leadership.
