ALL SPORTS AND RECREATION ACTIVITIES IN SABAH NOT ALLOWED

14 OCTOBER 2020

KOTA KINABALU: Sabah Youth and Sports Ministry has today announced that all form of sports, recreational, training and competition activities will be stopped immediately until further notice.

Its minister Datuk Ellron Angin urged all sports activists, sport premises owners, managers or operators to comply with the Conditional Movement Control Order (CMCO) set by the National Security Council and Local Authorities.

This he said is important to help break the Covid-19 transmission chain in the state.

Ellron also revealed that the Malaysia League football match between Sabah and UiTM teams which was supposed to take place on October 10 at the Likas Stadium has been postponed to October 19 (Monday).

"However, due to the increased of Covid-19 cases and inter-district travel bans, the Sabah Football Association (SAFA) had sent a letter to the organisers of the Malaysian Football League (MFL) to change the venue from Likas Stadium to UiTM Shah Alam Stadium on October 19.

"Even so, the match cannot be held, and the association has contacted MFL chief executive officer to postpone the match again.

“MFL has decided to postpone the match to October 31 which will be held at the UiTM Shah Alam Stadium, Selangor," he said in a statement, here, today.

Ellron hoped the explanation will resolve the confusion of all sports activists and football fans in the state.
