Appeal filed by Sulu Claimants dismissed

KUALA LUMPUR: The Government of Malaysia has achieved a significant victory today at the Supreme Court of the Netherlands, which ruled in favor of Malaysia and dismissed the appeal filed by the Sulu Claimants.

This final and authoritative decision ends the claimants' attempts to enforce their illegitimate claims against Malaysia in the Netherlands.

The Supreme Court's ruling supports the Hague Court of Appeal's decision on June 27, 2023, which upheld Malaysia’s challenge against the claimants' application to recognise and enforce the purported "Final Award" issued by Dr. Gonzalo Stampa in Paris on February 28, 2022.
