Christina Liew Offers Condolences to wife of Chief Editor Steven Lai

KOTA KINABALU: The passing of Steven Lai Kien Yean, Chief Editor of Overseas Chinese Daily News, marks a significant loss for the Chinese media industry, said Caretaker Minister of Tourism, Culture and Environment, Datuk Seri Christina Liew.

She described Steven as a devoted and committed journalist who continued to uphold his responsibilities with great professionalism, despite battling illness. His unwavering dedication was evident to all who knew him.

To his friends and acquaintances, Steven was a modest, kind, and unassuming individual who preferred to keep a low profile, said Liew. She extended her heartfelt condolences to Steven’s wife, Hiew Yun Ching, during the funeral service held at the KK Tionghua Funeral Parlour on Tuesday. Liew was accompanied by her Political Secretary, Datuk Vivien Lee.
