Clogged drains among Causes of Flooding in Sungai Manila

SANDAKAN: The absence of drain maintenance is among the causes of flooding in Sungai Manila.

Sungai Manila State Assemblyman Hazem Mubarak Musa, said that an investigation to identify the causes of the flood had been carried out.

“Following the investigation, we found that the lack of drain maintenance is one of the contributing factors to the flooding,” he shared.

Earlier, Hazem presented donations to 100 recipients under the Asnaf category at Kg Sibugal, at the Kg Nelayan Mosque in the Middle Jalan Sungai Batang, Sandakan.

He stated that the matter had been raised with relevant authorities such as the Public Works Department and the Drainage and Irrigation Department.

He expressed hope that action would be taken.

He mentioned that some drains had become blocked and required urgent attention.

Additionally, Hazem informed that the recent floods had caused damage to several small bridges.

“We are observing the issue and other problems caused by the floods... we will try to assist,” he added.G
