Collective Effort Key to a Cleaner, More Conducive Putatan

PUTATAN: Community clean-up activities play a vital role in fostering unity among local residents while ensuring that the Putatan district remains clean, pleasant, and conducive for all.

Member of Parliament for Putatan, Datuk Ir Shahelmey Yahya, said that apart from raising public awareness, such programmes also help to strengthen a culture of cleanliness at the grassroots level.

“In Putatan, we strongly encourage and fully support all community-based programmes that organise clean-up activities or gotong-royong sessions,” he said.

“Besides maintaining cleanliness in the area, these activities also serve to strengthen community ties among local residents and neighbouring areas,” he added.

He was speaking after attending a gotong-royong programme involving residents of Kampung Sri Pandan and Taman Pantai Lok Kawi here on Saturday.

Shahelmey also urged residents across Putatan to continue participating actively in cleanliness and healthy lifestyle initiatives in the future.

“If possible, such community clean-up programmes should be held regularly."

“Although we have local authorities such as the municipal council and district office responsible for waste management and maintenance, public awareness remains crucial. A clean, comfortable, and conducive environment motivates us in our daily routines, schooling, and work,” he said.
