KENINGAU: The spirit of togetherness continues to energise the community of Bingkor as the St. Mary Catholic Community (KUK) came together to clean the farming area near the church, creating an alternative pathway for worshippers ahead of Holy Week.

The volunteer effort gathered church members to clear the surroundings, ensuring the route is accessible for worshippers attending religious celebrations.

The initiative aims to facilitate movement, especially during Holy Week when church attendance usually peaks,  one of the most significant celebrations on the Christian calendar.

Present was KUK Vice-Chairman Alexius Tingadon, who actively took part in the cleaning efforts.

Organisers emphasised that such community activities not only provide convenience but also strengthen bonds within the church community.

For locals, this collective effort reflects a long-standing culture of mutual help and camaraderie in village life.

In Bingkor, small acts like clearing pathways or tidying church grounds are often volunteer-driven, because for the community, the church is more than just a place of worship; it’s a spiritual home built on the spirit of unity.
