KOTA KINABALU: The State Government will continue to support the needs of police personnel as key strategic partners in safeguarding the state’s security and development.
Chief Minister Datuk Seri Panglima Hajiji Noor said, “State security is the foundation of development stability, the well-being of the people and investor confidence,” he said.
The Chief Minister reiterated that security is a key enabler of economic growth under the Sabah Maju Jaya 2.0 (SMJ 2.0) development plan and a core pillar in strengthening public well-being.

“Without stability, the implementation of SMJ 2.0 would undoubtedly be affected,” he said at the opening ceremony of the Sabah Police Gallery at the Sabah Police Contingent Headquarters (IPK) in Kepayan near here today.
He praised the initiative to convert an old IPK building into the Sabah Police Gallery, describing it as “not merely a place for exhibitions, but a living archive that preserves the history, sacrifices and dedication of the Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM) in Sabah.”
“This gallery stands as a testament to the struggle, sacrifice and commitment of police personnel in maintaining national security. It also serves as a platform to express appreciation for the invaluable contributions and services of all PDRM personnel, both serving and retired,” he said.
Among the main exhibits is the 2013 Tanduo incident in Lahad Datu, which remains a significant chapter in the state’s history.
“I view the establishment of this gallery as both significant and timely in ensuring that the sacrifices of our national heroes remain etched in memory,” he added.
The Chief Minister also highlighted the gallery’s role as an educational centre and historical reference for younger generations to better appreciate the value of peace and security.
“It educates the younger generation and reminds us all of the importance of security, peace and the high standards of discipline upheld by the police force,” he said.
In conjunction with the 219th Police Commemoration Day, the Chief Minister urged all PDRM personnel to strengthen their resolve and continue serving with full commitment in safeguarding the nation’s security, well-being and peace.
“To maintain the highest standards of integrity in service, I urge all police personnel to continue carrying out their duties with discipline and professionalism.
“Let the displays in this gallery serve as a source of inspiration to uphold the honour of the force,” he said.
