COVID-19: 1,240 NEW CASES RECORDED TODAY, HIGHEST SO FAR - HEALTH DG

26 OKTOBER 2020

PUTRAJAYA: Malaysia has recorded 1,240 new COVID-19 cases today, the highest daily tally so far, said Health director-general Tan Sri Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah.

He said the latest development took the cumulative tally for positive cases to 27,805, while the number of active cases with infectivity potential stood at 9,744.

He said that of the new daily total, Sabah continued to record the highest tally, with 927 cases or 74.8 per cent of the total number of cases.

"The number of cases in Sabah has spiked again due to the positive cases in the Kepayan Prison, which recorded 439 cases following more active case detections being carried out in the state.

"Other than that, the mobilisation of health workers has helped efforts to carry out field screening as well as medical treatment,” he said in a press conference on the development of COVID-19 here today. - Bernama
