COVID-19: SABAH RECORDS 178 NEW CASES, FOUR DEATHS

KOTA KINABALU: Sabah today recorded 178 new Covid-19 cases, a drop of 80 cases compared to yesterday’s 258, bringing the cumulative total of statewide infections to 69,203.
Local Government and Housing Minister Datuk Masidi Manjun said four more deaths related to the virus were also recorded today with two in Tawau and one each in Kudat and Kota Belud.
"Of the total cases, 102 cases were detected through close contact screening, while 42 were detected through cluster screening, 17 through symptomatic screening, 15 from other categories and two from targeted screening," he said in a statement today.
Kota Kinabalu recorded the highest cases with 32 followed by Putatan (20), Semporna (19), Tawau (18), Kota Belud (14), Sandakan and Tuaran (12), Kudat and Keningau (nine), Papar (six), Beaufort (five), Kalabakan and Penampang (four), Pitas and Kunak (three), Kinabatangan, Lahad Datu, and Kota Marudu (two), Tambunan and Ranau (one).
Districts that did not record any cases today are Kuala Penyu, Tenom, Tongod, Nabawan, Telupid, Sipitang and Beluran.
The number of active cases now stands at 1,571 with 466 treated at hospitals, 988 in quarantine centres and 117 in detention centres.
"The number of patients treated in the intensive care unit (ICU) is 71 with 16 requiring ventilator support," he stated.
As for recoveries, a total of 219 discharges were reported today, bringing the cumulative total of recoveries in Sabah to 67,069.
