COVID-19: SABAH RECORDS 203 NEW CASES, ONE DEATH

KOTA KINABALU: Sabah’s new Covid-19 cases today rose to 203, an increase of 74 cases compared to yesterday’s 129, bringing the cumulative total of statewide infections to 68,232.


Local Government and Housing Minister Datuk Masidi Manjun said one more death related to the virus was also recorded today in Kota Kinabalu.


"Of the total cases, 112 cases were detected through close contact screening, while 68 were detected through cluster screening, 10 through symptomatic screening, and 13 from other categories," he said in a statement today.


Sandakan recorded the highest cases with 31 followed by Kinabatangan (29), Kota Kinabalu (25), Kalabakan (24), Penampang (19), Tawau (18), Beaufort (17), Lahad Datu (10), Kota Marudu (eight), Kota Belud (seven), Tuaran (four), Kudat, Semporna, Keningau, and Putatan (two), Papar and Telupid (one).


Districts that did not record any cases today are Kunak, Pitas, Sipitang, Nabawan, Tongod, Tambunan, Kuala Penyu, Tenom and Beluran.


The number of active cases now stands at 1,399 with 442 treated at hospitals and 946 in quarantine centres.


"The number of patients treated in the intensive care unit (ICU) is 72 with 20 requiring ventilator support," he stated.


As for recoveries, a total of 220 discharges were reported today, bringing the cumulative total of recoveries in Sabah to 66,115.
