COVID-19: SABAH RECORDS 225 NEW CASES, ONE DEATH

KOTA KINABALU: Sabah today recorded 225 new Covid-19 cases, a drop of 38 cases compared to yesterday’s 263, bringing the cumulative total of statewide infections to 70,945.


Local Government and Housing Minister Datuk Masidi Manjun said one more death related to the virus was also recorded today in Tawau.


"Of the total cases, 101 cases were detected through close contact screening, while 69 were detected through targeted screening, 21 through cluster screening, 19 from other symptomatic screening and 15 from other categories," he said in a statement today.


Kota Kinabalu recorded the highest cases with 70 followed by Beaufort (57), Tawau (21), Putatan (18), Penamapang (12), Sandakan and Lahad Datu (nine), Kota Belud (seven), Semporna (five), Kinabatangan, Kota Marudu and Kuala Penyu (four), Kudat (two), Pitas, Keningau, and Papar (one).


Districts that did not record any cases today are Tuaran, Kunak, Kalabakan, Tambunan, Nabawan, Ranau, Tenom, Tongod, Telupid, Sipitang and Beluran.


The number of active cases now stands at 1,672 with 392 treated at hospitals, 1,158 in quarantine centres and 123 in detention centres.


"The number of patients treated in the intensive care unit (ICU) is 55 with 19 requiring ventilator support," he stated.


As for recoveries, a total of 199 discharges were reported today, bringing the cumulative total of recoveries in Sabah to 68,908.
