COVID-19: SABAH RECORDS 232 NEW CASES, FIVE DEATHS

KOTA KINABALU: Sabah today registered a total of 232 new Covid-19 cases, maintaining the 200-mark trend, bringing the cumulative total of statewide infections to 69,677.
However, Local Government and Housing Minister Datuk Masidi Manjun said five more deaths related to the virus were also reported today with three in Kudat and two in Tawau.
"Of the total cases, 131 cases were detected through close contact screening, while 29 were detected through cluster screening, 16 through symptomatic screening, 24 through targeted screening and 32 from other categories," he said in a statement today.
Tawau recorded the highest number of cases with 36 followed by Kudat (34), Sandakan (27), Kota Kinabalu (25), Pitas and Putatan (16), Semporna (14), Papar (12), Kota Belud (11), Lahad Datu (nine), Kunak, Beaufort, and Tambunan (eight), Keningau (three), Kalabakan and Kota Marudu (two), and Tuaran (one).
Meanwhile, districts that did not record any new cases today are Penampang, Kuala Penyu, Nabawan, Kinabatangan, Ranau, Tenom, Tongod, Telupid, Sipitang and Beluran.
The number of active cases now stands at 1,528 with 405 treated at hospitals, 1008 in quarantine centres, and 115 in detention centres.
"The number of patients treated in the intensive care unit (ICU) is 68 with 17 requiring ventilator support," he stated.
As for recoveries, a total of 188 discharges were reported today, bringing the cumulative total of recoveries in Sabah to 67,444.
