COVID-19: SABAH RECORDS 242 NEW CASES, THREE DEATHS

KOTA KINABALU: Sabah’s new Covid-19 cases today rose to 242, an increase of 64 cases compared to yesterday’s 178, bringing the cumulative total of statewide infections to 69,445.

Local Government and Housing Minister Datuk Masidi Manjun said three more deaths related to the virus were also recorded today with two in Kota Belud and one in Tawau.

"Of the total cases, 115 cases were detected through close contact screening, while 94 were detected through cluster screening, 14 through symptomatic screening, and eight from targeted screening and 11 from other categories," he said in a statement today.

Kota Kinabalu recorded the highest cases with 99 followed by Tawau, Kota Belud, and Kunak (20), Penampang (17), Beaufort (11), Kuala Penyu (10), Semporna, Kudat, and Papar (seven), Lahad Datu (six), Kalabakan and Kota Marudu (four), Sandakan and Tuaran (three), Keningau (two), Pitas and Nabawan (one).

Districts that did not record any cases today are Putatan, Kinabatangan, Tambunan, Ranau, Tenom, Tongod, Telupid, Sipitang and Beluran

The number of active cases now stands at 1,508 with 444 treated at hospitals, 948 in quarantine centres and 116 in detention centres.

"The number of patients treated in the intensive care unit (ICU) is 70 with 17 requiring ventilator support," he stated. As for recoveries, a total of 187 discharges were reported today, bringing the cumulative total of recoveries in Sabah to 67,256.
