COVID-19: SABAH RECORDS 70 NEW CASES, THREE DEATHS

KOTA KINABALU: Sabah Covid-19 caseload today slightly increased from 50 yesterday to 70 today, bringing the cumulative total to 59,073.


Local Government and Housing Minister Datuk Masidi Manjun said three deaths were also reported today with one each in Tawau, Papar, and Kinabatangan.


Of the total, 33 were detected in new and existing clusters, 25 close contacts, seven from symptomatic screening and five from other categories.


“Kota Kinabalu reported the highest number of new cases with 16, followed by Tawau (nine), Penampang and Semporna (eight), Lahad Datu and Kunak (seven), Sandakan and Putatan (four), Kalabakan (three), Kota Belud (two), Papar and Kinabatangan each with one case.


“Meanwhile, districts that did not record any new cases were Keningau, Ranau, Beaufort, Tuaran, Beluran, Telupid, Tongod, Kudat, Pitas, Kota Marudu, Kuala Penyu, Sipitang, Tenom, Nabawan, and Tambunan,” he said in a statement today.


The cumulative total of recoveries in Sabah to date is 57,917, including 56 recoveries reported today.


To date, the number of active cases now stands at 576 with 239 of the patients at the hospital, 337 in the quarantine and low-risk treatment centre.


“A total of 33 patients are currently in the intensive care unit with 19 of them ventilated,” he added.
