COVID-19: SABAH RECORDS 86 NEW CASES, ONE DEATH

KOTA KINABALU: The daily Covid-19 cases in Sabah today shot up to 86 following the newly declared clusters recently, bringing the cumulative total of statewide infections to 54,853.


Of the total, 41 was identified in existing clusters, 28 are close contacts, 13 from symptomatic screening and four from other categories, said Local Government and Housing Datuk Masidi Manjun.


Tawau reported the highest number of new cases with 40, followed by Keningau (15), Kinabatangan (11), Kunak (seven), Kota Kinabalu and Sandakan each with three, Lahad Datu, Tuaran and Penampang each with two, and Nabawan (one).


Aside from the green zone districts Ranau, Pitas, Kuala Penyu and Tongod, 13 other districts did not record new cases today, namely Kalabakan, Putatan, Kota Belud, Papar, Tenom, Kota Marudu, Kudat, Tambunan, Beaufort, Semporna, Sipitang, Beluran and Telupid.


According to Masidi's statement today, one Covid-19 death was also reported today in Keningau.


"The number of active cases now stands at 429 with 171 of the patients at the hospitals, including 26 in the intensive care unit with 14 of them ventilated, and 258 in the quarantine and low risk treatment centres.


"The cumulative total of recoveries in Sabah is 53,991 to date, including an addition of 61 recoveries reported today," he said.
