DAP REPS HAND OVER FOOD AID, KITS FOR RESIDENTS UNDER KEPAYAN RUMAH MURAH EMCO

8 June 2021

KOTA KINABALU: DAP leaders involving Kapayan State Assemblyman Jannie Lasimbang, Kota Kinabalu MP Chan Foong Hin, and Luyang State Assemblyman Phoong Jin Zhe were in Dewan Masyarakat Kota Kinabalu today to hand over food aid and protection kits for residents under the Kepayan Rumah Murah Enhanced Movement Control Order (EMCO).

Since the distribution of the food aid and protection kit to residents under EMCO are restricted, the DAP leaders have channelled them through the Kota Kinabalu City Hall (DBKK) which would then be distributed to the households by the DBKK team.

Jannie said her assembly office gave 500 packs of facemasks and 300 hand sanitisers, while Phoong and Chan contributed 200 food packs and 200 packs of cooking oil, respectively.

The donations were received by Kota Kinabalu Municipal Council Mayor Noorliza Awang Alip and Liaison Officer Mohd Noh.

Noorlizah said the DBKK team started distributing food aid on June 5 in the Kepayan Rumah Murah housing area, as well as in Kampung Kibouvang and the Kepayan Cooperative which are under the Penampang district.

While DBKK targeted 500 heads of households in the first phase, Jannie said she has appealed to the mayor to reach out to more families who were left out and those renting in shop lots and houses in their follow-up distribution phases.

"The Kapayan ADUN Service Center team has been keeping in touch with the residents in the Kepayan Rumah Murah EMCO area to help them in terms of food aid, SOP, complaints and other inquiries," Jannie said, adding that inquiries can be made to 012 826 0706.

She also thanked DBKK for its quick response in food aid distribution, and to the Ministry of Health for going house to house conducting Covid-19 tests on June 8-10 starting at 9am.

The Vegetable and Fruit Hawkers Association West Coast Division has meanwhile committed to donating vegetables to give out to residents for the next food aid distribution.

Jannie said that the generous donations by the association in the past are greatly appreciated.

"Covid-19 spreads easily through physical contact from person to person and therefore I appeal to residents under EMCO to reduce movement, comply with the SOP in order to break the COVID chain in the Kepayan Rumah Murah area.

"Our prayers and support are with you as you brave through this two-week ordeal," she said.
