KOTA KINABALU: Racial and religious diversity does not divide us; instead, it fosters a harmonious society in Sabah, Chief Minister, Datuk Seri Hajiji Noor said.

He highlighted that this diversity—encompassing various races, religions, traditions, ethnicities, and languages—is a key strength of the state.

"Let us come together to create a more advanced and progressive Sabah, and maintain this spirit of harmonious brotherhood as the cornerstone of our development and peace," he urged.

He noted that 2025 marks the final year of the Sabah Maju Jaya 1.0 Development Direction Plan, which spans from 2021 to 2025. "If entrusted with a mandate, we will embark on the SMJ 2.0 direction for the period of 2026 to 2030."

"Without a doubt, the SMJ initiative has successfully revitalized and enhanced Sabah's economic performance, which had severely declined due to the COVID-19 pandemic," he stated in his 2025 Chinese New Year message delivered here on Monday.

Hajiji also expressed his gratitude to the Chinese community for their unwavering support in the state's development. "As Chief Minister, I assure you that the welfare of all communities, including the Chinese, will remain a top priority."

"May this year bring hope, strength, happiness, and good health, along with increased prosperity."

"We are thankful that the people of Sabah, particularly those of Chinese descent, will celebrate the Chinese New Year this year, the Year of the Snake, in a peaceful, harmonious, and joyful setting," he added.

Hajiji extended his wishes for a Happy Chinese New Year, Gong Xi Fa Cai, to all members of the Chinese community and everyone celebrating in the state.
