KOTA KINABALU: Parti Warisan Sabah (Warisan) President Datuk Seri Shafie Apdal has urged the Perikatan Nasional (PN) Government to hold a parliamentary session as ordered once again by His Majesty Al-Sultan Abdullah yesterday.

He said the PN Government spearheaded by Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin should not be arrogant as if it knows everything while leaving its people to suffer through the pandemic.

With all sorts of challenges and trials as well as the economic instability and losses of lives due to Covid-19, he opined that it's best that the present-day Federal Government stop pulling a know-it-all and start taking heed even though it is still uncertain with many things.

"It has been more than two weeks that His Majesty and the Malay Rulers have ordered the reconvening of parliament and yesterday, His Majesty once again urged for the parliamentary session to be held immediately.

"What is happening today is a reflection of the real situation that is happening such as job losses and closing down of businesses, small traders going bankrupt, families not being able to provide food... All these situations are not in favour of most people," he said in a statement today.

"I am worried that if we do not address this situation immediately, it will cause more harm than good."

Shafie stressed that Malaysia needs to protect, respect and defend the rule of Parliamentary Democracy and Constitutional Monarchy need to protect and take heed of the King's decree to reconvene parliament.

"His Majesty is very concerned and understands the difficulties faced by the people. Of course, many things can be discussed, resolved and further benefit the people, especially matters related to the Covid-19 Emergency Ordinances.

"Once again, I urge that the King's order must be taken into account by the PN government, especially the administration of the Dewan Rakyat and Dewan Negara."
