KOTA BELUD: Kadamaian State Assemblyman Datuk Ewon Benedick has handed over food baskets to 100 pastors in the constituency today.

The food baskets were donated from various parties which include private companies, non-governmental organisations (NGOs), private donors and also from himself as an assemblyman.

According to Ewon, church leaders such as pastors are also among those who are affected by the pandemic because the church could not hold their worship services and thus there is no weekly collection which eventually affected their income.

"Therefore, we have identified them as a community that deserves to be helped and we took action to help them. We are very grateful because a lot of contributors have come forward to help.

"As an Assemblyman, this is one of my responsibilities that I will continue. I am no longer in the government, but I am eager to continue helping the people of Kadamaian," he said after presenting donations to the pastors at the Kadamaian Assembly Service Centre, today.

Ewon said there are still many villagers in Kadamaian who need food basket assistance based on those who contacted his service centre.

Also present during the programme was former Kadamaian Assemblyman Datuk Yapin Gimpoton.

Earlier, he also delivered donations of 50 food baskets to the needy families in Kg Nahaba and Kg Tegudon which are currently still being placed under the Enhanced Movement Control Order (EMCO).

Padis Mengisan, Head of Upko Kg Nahaba represented the villagers to receive the food baskets.
