KOTA KINABALU: Minister of Entrepreneur Development and Cooperatives Datuk Ewon Benedick said that he will provide a special allocation this year for the educational development programme of all primary and secondary schools in the Penampang and Kadamaian areas.

Ewon who is also the Penampang Member of Parliament said this includes providing allocations for schools with Integrated Special Education Programme (PPKI) classes.

"The additional special allocation from the Assemblyman enables us to assist and provide more development needs for the people in the areas we represent.

"Therefore, I will continue to provide assistance to all secondary and primary schools that I have started last year, which is RM10,000 for secondary schools and RM5,000 for primary schools in Kadamaian and Penampang.

"At the request of the PPKI teachers, I will also provide a special allocation to fund the equipment needs of PPKI classes in the areas I represent," he said during his speech at the SMK Narinang Link of Love event at Hotel Raia, here, on Friday.

Ewon, who is also the Kadamaian State Assemblyman, said it is his responsibility to help address the school development needs in the Kadamaian and Penampang areas.

During the event, Ewon approved SMK Narinang's request for an allocation of RM50,000 from the minister's special fund for the installation of Smart I Boards in the school's Dewan Perdana. He also agreed to allocate RM35,000 from the assemblyman's special fund to upgrade the Parent-Teacher Association (PIBG) lodge of SMK Narinang for temporary classroom use due to the increase in new Form 1 students," he said.

The sudden increase in the number of students in the school has caused overcrowding among students, and the number of classes had to be increased. This is because the current number of classrooms cannot accommodate the growing number of students.
