PENAMPANG: The ex-students of Babagon Primary School (SK Babagon) are set to hold their inaugural reunion on January 26, 2025, at the Tintap Riverside Hall in Babagon. This announcement was made by the organising chairman, Datuk Stephen Sampil, following the third meeting of the organising team.

“This reunion marks a significant milestone in both the history of our school and the broader landscape of education in Upper Penampang,” Stephen emphasised.

“Since its inception in the late 1950s, SK Babagon has played a fundamental role in providing primary education and has produced numerous successful individuals in various fields, including business, government, medicine, and engineering.”

The event will also feature the inauguration of the first-ever school alumni association. Stephen highlighted that this new alumni body will be instrumental in furthering the development of the school and enhancing educational opportunities in the area, especially with the upcoming opening of SMK Kipouvo, located adjacent to SK Babagon.

"We are aiming for 400 ex-students to attend, and we believe this reunion will receive an enthusiastic response, given it’s our first gathering of its kind," he added.

He also announced that the reunion is expected to be attended by Datuk Ewon Benedick, the Minister of Entrepreneur Development and Cooperatives, and the Member of Parliament for Penampang.

In tandem with the reunion festivities, a lucky draw featuring exciting prizes will be held. The grand prize is a brand-new motorcycle, while the first prize is a 42-inch LED TV. Additional prizes include various electrical goods and hampers.

Stephen urged all ex-students of SK Babagon to secure their tickets promptly, as only 400 tickets will be available for the event. Tickets can be obtained from Elsie Gidai at 016-8284525 or Vivie Gidai at 019-8719355.
