KOTA KINABALU: The institution of the family must continue to be strengthened as it forms a vital foundation for the nation’s social, economic, and cultural development.
The wife of the Chief Minister, Datin Seri Panglima Datuk Hajah Juliah Salag, said the family institution plays a crucial role in shaping individuals who are ethical and responsible.
She noted that in an era marked by rapid technological advancement, rising living costs, and swiftly changing social norms, families require wisdom, knowledge, and a high level of awareness to remain resilient and harmonious.
“We all know that the family is a person’s first school. It is at home, the most basic and closest place to the heart, that moral values, ethics, and character are first formed.
“Therefore, spending quality time together as a family is one of the most important efforts in building and strengthening family relationships.
“By spending time together, family members can discuss challenges and achievements, share interests and activities, and strengthen bonds that are essential for emotional and psychological well-being,” she said during the Madani Family Inspiration Seminar held here on Saturday.
The seminar was officiated by the wife of the Prime Minister, Dato’ Seri Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail, in her capacity as Chairperson of the Amal Silaturrahim Welfare Organisation of the Wives of Harapan Malaysia (KASIH).
She expressed hope that all participants would benefit from the meaningful seminar and return home with new knowledge to help create a calmer, happier family environment that supports the mental well-being of every family member.
“The responsibility for family well-being cannot rest solely on parents. It also requires the support of all parties, including the community, non-governmental organisations (NGOs), government agencies, the private sector, women’s associations, and educational institutions.
“May this seminar bring great benefit and serve as a catalyst for the development of stronger and more prosperous Madani families,” she said.
