KENINGAU: Free blood pressure screening was offered to congregants attending the Sabbath service at the Toboh Baru Seventh-day Adventist (SDA) Church here on the morning recently , as part of efforts to promote health awareness within the local community.

The simple yet meaningful programme was conducted alongside the Sabbath service, reflecting the church’s holistic approach to caring for both the physical and spiritual well-being of its members.

The initiative was led by pharmacist Edna Magdalena Jasper John Gitang, who carried out blood pressure checks and provided basic health advice, particularly on the early prevention of non-communicable diseases such as hypertension.

According to the organisers, the programme aimed to instil greater awareness that healthcare is a shared responsibility requiring continuous attention, and should form part of a faith-based way of life.

The initiative also underscored the church’s commitment to broadening the role of worship as a platform for community welfare, not only through spiritual nourishment but also through concern for the health and well-being of the wider community.
