KUDAT: All parties within the Gabungan Rakyat Sabah (GRS) coalition must continue strengthening their cooperation in preparation for the upcoming State Election (PRN).

Acting President of Parti Bersatu Sabah (PBS), Datuk Seri Dr Joachim Gunsalam said at the opening of the PBS Matunggong Annual General Meeting at the Open Hall in Pekan Matunggong recently.

He also emphasised that the strong collaboration between PBS and Parti Solidariti Tanah Airku (StarSabah) is not intended to undermine GRS, but to strengthen the coalition in pursuit of a shared victory.

“To face the state election, we must unite under GRS,” he said.

According to Dr Joachim, the GRS Government is one that cares about the people's concerns, as reflected through the various forms of assistance that have been extended, including to the people of Matunggong.

These include the SMJ Friendly Housing Programme, Sentuhan Kasih Rakyat (SYUKUR), the Sabah People's Insurance Scheme, educational initiatives, rural road construction and upgrading projects, and agricultural development programmes.

Dr Joachim, who is also the Deputy Chief Minister II and Minister of Local Government and Housing, also called on all PBS members to remain united and avoid internal divisions to ensure victory for the GRS candidate in Matunggong.

In his speech, Dr Joachim also congratulated Datuk Julita Majungki, Chief of the PBS Matunggong Division, and Epson Kawahui, the Division Secretary and Chairperson of the Organising Committee, for the successful organisation of the meeting, which was attended by over 1,000 members and observers from GRS component parties.

He affirmed that PBS would represent GRS in Matunggong, expressing his full support for Julita as the GRS candidate for the Matunggong State Assembly seat, and called on all members to work together to secure her victory.

“I also hope that PBS membership in Matunggong will continue to grow,” he added.

Also present at the meeting were Vice President and Head of the PBS Youth Exco Movement, Dr Christoper Mandut; members of the Supreme Council; division chiefs; representatives of other GRS component parties; and local community leaders.
