BEIJING: About 100 guests, comprising staff of the Malaysian Embassy and their families, officers from Bank Negara Malaysia in Beijing, as well as Malaysians serving at the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank (AIIB), attended the Hari Raya Aidilfitri celebration organised by the Embassy of Malaysia in the People’s Republic of China here recently.

The event, held at the Official Residence of the Ambassador of Malaysia to the People’s Republic of China, was hosted by His Excellency Dato’ Norman Muhamad in a modest yet meaningful setting, in line with the Malaysian Government’s call for official functions to prioritise cost-saving measures.

The celebration began with congregational Aidilfitri prayers, followed by a reception featuring a variety of traditional festive dishes.

The festive atmosphere was further enhanced by the continuation of the duit raya tradition, as well as a group photography session, both of which formed key highlights of the event.

The dishes, prepared collectively by embassy staff together with members of the Foreign Ministry’s Women’s Association (PERWAKILAN) Beijing, reflected a strong spirit of cooperation, familial bonds and unity among the Malaysian community abroad.

Although modest in scale, the celebration was marked by a warm and cheerful atmosphere, demonstrating that the spirit of Aidilfitri remains vibrant among Malaysians even when far from home.
