KOTA KINABALU: The Head of State of Sabah, Tun Datuk Seri Panglima (Dr) Musa Haji Aman, has called on the State Government and the people of Sabah to embrace the New Year with a spirit of reflection, renewal and collective responsibility in building a better future for the state.
In his New Year message, Tun Musa said the arrival of a new year provides an important opportunity to reflect on past achievements and challenges, while setting fresh resolutions and plans for a more meaningful year ahead.
He urged the State Government to continue prioritising sustained and inclusive socio-economic development, with particular emphasis on strengthening infrastructure, resolving long-standing issues affecting Sabah, and further improving the welfare and quality of life of the people.
“At the same time, Sabah must continue to attract quality investments and create a conducive environment for growth,” he said, adding that the development of key sectors such as manufacturing, tourism and agriculture should be intensified to generate employment opportunities, strengthen the economy and ensure long-term prosperity for the state.
Tun Musa also stressed that unity remains Sabah’s greatest strength, describing the state’s rich religious and ethnic diversity as a blessing that must be cherished and safeguarded.
In this regard, he called on those who are more fortunate to extend assistance to the less privileged and vulnerable members of society. He also expressed his deepest appreciation and gratitude to members of the security forces who continue to make sacrifices, often away from their families, in safeguarding Sabah’s borders and upholding the security and sovereignty of the state and the nation.
“Their dedication and service will always be remembered and honoured,” he said.
Tun Musa expressed hope that the New Year would bring continued progress, prosperity, peace and harmony to Malaysia as a whole and to Sabah in particular.
“With collective effort, wisdom and unity of purpose, I am confident that we can move forward together towards a brighter future,” he said, while extending his New Year greetings and best wishes to all.
