Highstar Unveils Malaysia Plant and Globally Debuts the 21700-50PS Tabless Cell

KULIM: Highstar proudly hosted the commissioning ceremony for its Malaysia Tabless Cell Base and held its Global Partner Conference, recently. Simultaneously, Highstar’s state-of-the-art battery manufacturing facility in Kulim, Kedah, officially began production. This marks China’s first overseas mass-production line for tabless cylindrical cells, a significant milestone that highlights Highstar’s unwavering commitment to expanding its global supply chain. Local dignitaries and international strategic partners gathered to witness this historic achievement.

This facility serves as a collaborative hub for our global clients and demonstrates our dedication to Malaysia’s industry. We are committed to maintaining localisation and adhering to world-class standards to deliver highly competitive power solutions.”

The highlight of the event was the debut of the INR21700-50PS, a 5.0Ah all-round tabless cell that successfully advances tabless technology from laboratory research into intelligent mass production. Featuring three technological breakthroughs, four core highlights, and serving five major applications, it boasts innovative bottom-layer features: a co-developed Ni90+ high-energy cathode, a next-generation Silicon-Carbon (SiC) fast-charging anode, and a revolutionary “point-line-face” 3D conductive network.

Four Core Advantages:

Exceptional Power & Low Resistance: Internal resistance reduced to ≤3mΩ (over 70% decrease), enabling 250A (50C) instantaneous pulse discharge for high-power demands. 

Wide Operating Temperature Range: Stable performance from -40°C to 80°C, overcoming operational limitations in extreme cold and heat. 

Efficient Fast Charging: Supports 3C fast charging — reaching 80% SOC in just 15 minutes — reducing range anxiety and enhancing outdoor usability. 

Extended Cycle Life: Achieves 1,000 cycles at 30A high-rate discharge (doubling the lifespan of multi-tab cells) and supports 50A/70A cycling.

Guests toured the world’s leading tabless battery production line and highly commended Highstar’s rigorous quality control standards. Powered by these robust features, the 21700-50PS is set to serve five key sectors: premium power tools, gardening tools, industrial robots/AGVs, AIDC, and eVTOLs.
