KUALA LUMPUR: The International Construction Week (ICW) Borneo returns for its second edition on 12–13 May 2026 in Kota Kinabalu, Sabah, with a technical site visit on 13 May.

This brings national-level construction dialogue and capability-building directly to East Malaysia stakeholders.

Hosted by the Ministry of Works Malaysia and the Construction Industry Development Board (CIDB) Malaysia, and jointly organised by Qube Integrated Malaysia Sdn. Bhd.

ICW Borneo 2026 builds on the success of its inaugural event in Kuching, Sarawak, last year. Rotating to Sabah underscores a commitment to decentralising industry knowledge, boosting regional participation, and fostering inclusive development across Malaysia's construction ecosystem.

Advancing Sabah’s Construction Agenda

With East Malaysia's infrastructure boom and rising focus on sustainability, ICW Borneo 2026 offers a vital platform for Sabah's sector.

A highlight is the Construction Sustainability Summit (CSS) 2026, themed “From Ambition to Action: Delivering Sabah’s Sustainable Future”.

It will gather policymakers, industry leaders, and built environment professionals to chart practical paths in sustainable infrastructure, renewable energy, ESG practices, and low-carbon materials.

Expert-led sessions will tackle real-world challenges, including renewable energy via major hydropower projects, engineering innovations for complex infrastructure, ESG adoption and sustainable building in Sabah, and low-carbon materials alongside emerging technologies.

The summit culminates in a high-level dialogue on overcoming implementation hurdles, emphasising shared government-industry responsibility for sustainable outcomes.

Targeted Technical Sessions

The event delivers focused sessions to build East Malaysian capabilities, especially for contractors and professionals.

A specialised forum, “Fair Contracts, Fair Outcomes – Managing Risks and Avoiding Disputes in Construction Projects”, unites legal and industry experts to share best practices on contractual risk and dispute avoidance—one of the sector's top concerns.

Another key session, “BIM Beyond Design: Towards Digital Construction in Borneo”, equips participants with essential Building Information Modelling (BIM) knowledge and tools for digital transformation.

From Dialogue to Practice

Participants will join a technical site visit on 13 May 2026, gaining hands-on insight into Sabah's construction practices and project delivery, bridging theory with reality.

Transforming the Sector

Echoing ICW 2026's “Beyond Limits” theme, the Borneo edition urges the industry to transcend traditional methods through innovation, collaboration, and digitalisation.

For Sabah and East Malaysia, it highlights the region's pivotal role in sustainable infrastructure, renewables, and modern practices.

ICW Borneo bridges East and West Malaysia, empowering professionals, contractors, developers, and stakeholders with vital knowledge, networks, and opportunities in a competitive landscape.

As Malaysia forges a resilient, future-ready construction sector, this event champions inclusive growth, regional empowerment, and collaboration.
