IKMA signs MoU with JCC

DEAD SEA, JORDAN: The Malaysian Cooperative Institute (IKMA) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Jordan Cooperative Corporation (JCC), in conjunction with the 11th Asia Pacific Cooperative Ministers' Conference (APCMC), here, yesterday.

The MoU is related to technical and scientific cooperation in the field of cooperatives including training and education, research and publication, exchange of information and expertise as well as consultancy programmes.

The MoU signing ceremony was witnessed by the Minister of Entrepreneurship and Cooperative Development Datuk Ewon Benedick and the Jordanian Minister of Agriculture who is also JCC Chairman Khaled Al-Huneifat.

IKMA was represented by Director General Datuk Mohd Ali Mansor, while JCC was represented by Director General Abdelfattah Shalabi.

Earlier Ewon held a meeting with Khaled to discuss bilateral cooperation in the development of cooperatives and entrepreneurship.

Ewon also delivered a ministerial statement on the second day of the conference and participated in the preparation of the 11th APCMC Joint Declaration.

The Joint Declaration will be adopted during the celebration of World Cooperative Day on the first Saturday of July this year.

Ewon said that among the things he conveyed in the minister's statement was the performance of the Malaysian cooperative movement and the proposed direction of cooperation between cooperatives at the international level.

"I am proud that several countries have made Malaysia an example in the governance and development of the cooperative movement.

"This conference has greatly benefited the participating countries including Malaysia which has signed an agreement between IKMa and JCC," he said.
