KOTA BELUD: Sabah Deputy Chief Minister III and Minister of Industrial Development, Entrepreneurship and Transport, Datuk Ewon Benedick, today officiated the groundbreaking ceremony for the Taginambur–Kamburaon Road Upgrading Project in Kadamaian.
Ewon, who is also the Kadamaian State Assemblyman, said the project involves an allocation of RM21.476 million and includes the upgrading and resurfacing of a 2.55-kilometre stretch of road, as well as the construction of a two-lane concrete bridge.
The project is scheduled for full completion by November 2027.

“I am confident that once completed, this road will benefit thousands of residents, particularly parents who travel daily to send their children to SMK Narinang and SK Taginambur.
“In addition, it will provide greater comfort and convenience for all daily road users, including tourists visiting tourism-related enterprises along this route, while also supporting the local village economy,” he said.
He was speaking to reporters after officiating the groundbreaking ceremony here today.
Ewon said that the provision of paved roads would continue to be one of his main priorities as the Kadamaian representative, as road infrastructure is a key driver of economic activity for the people.
“Besides the Taginambur–Kamburaon Road Project, several other major road resurfacing works are currently being actively implemented in Kadamaian, including Sayap Road, Tengkurus Road and Podos Road, as well as the construction of two major concrete bridges, namely Kaung Bridge and Malangkap Bridge.
“I hope more road upgrading projects involving key connecting routes can be implemented in the Kadamaian constituency this year, in line with the Sabah Government’s priority to ensure the people enjoy safer and more comfortable basic road infrastructure,” he said.
He also expressed his appreciation to the Federal Government, through the Ministry of Rural and Regional Development (KKDW), for providing the funding, as well as to the Sabah Public Works Department (JKR) as the implementing agency and all parties involved in ensuring the success of the Taginambur–Kamburaon Road Upgrading Project.
Once completed, the road is expected to benefit residents of Kampung Barob, Kampung Potomodun, Kampung Tiong Kamburaon, Kampung Tiong Tiong and Kampung Gontung.
Meanwhile, the Chairman of the Village Development and Security Committee (JKKK) of Kampung Tiong Kamburaon, Juhanis Tinggi, expressed his gratitude to the State Government, particularly the Kadamaian Assemblyman, for the concern shown towards improving basic infrastructure for villagers.
“As a villager who uses this road every day, I am extremely grateful and thankful that our village road will finally be upgraded. This is something we have been waiting for a long time.
“Although the upgrading does not fully reach my village, it has already been very helpful, as this road is crucial, especially for sending children to SMK Narinang and SK Taginambur,” he said.
He added that previously, villagers had faced difficulties in sending their children to school due to the poor condition of the road.
In this regard, he expressed hope that the government would continue the road upgrading works up to Kampung Tiong Manggis, Kampung Tiong Kamburaon and Kampung Tambailik.
Juhanis said the route serves as an important alternative road for residents travelling to Tuaran, particularly Tenghilan, which is closer compared to the Kota Belud route.
“This road serves seven villages and is extremely important, as most residents are farmers. Improving the road will greatly ease daily activities, including transporting agricultural produce, purchasing supplies, accessing hospital treatment and travelling to other destinations,” he said.
