PENAMPANG: KFC East Malaysia, under the leadership of Lim Kok Fung, has made a generous contribution of RM50,000 to the Persatuan Komuniti Kebajikan Moyog Penampang (Welfare Community Association of Moyog Penampang ) to provide support to the victims of the recent flood.
Billy Jinawat, chairman for the Association expressed deep gratitude for KFC QSR Stores Sdn Bhd, emphasising that the funds received will be directed towards assisting those individuals and families who have been most severely affected by the flood.
The recent flood has caused significant losses and hardships for many people in the Penampang area and the association recognises the urgent need to provide aid and support to those who are facing the greatest challenges as a result of this natural disaster.
In line with their mission, the association aims to prioritize the allocation of resources and assistance to those in greatest need. By doing so, they can ensure that the support reaches those who require it the most, providing relief and hope to those who have been affected by the flood.
“The target for the funds are specifically tailored to the needs of the affected individuals and families. Each person's circumstances may differ and as such we address these unique challenges in the most effective way possible. If a victim's vehicle is damaged due to the flood and they are unable to afford the necessary repairs, the association will step in to provide support. They will subsidize half of the repair cost, easing the financial burden on the affected individual
“The flood may have caused damage to tools or equipment that individuals rely on for their livelihoods, such as motorcycles or lawnmowers. In such cases, the association will provide a subsidy to cover half of the repair or replacement cost. This assistance aims to help individuals get back on their feet and resume their income-generating activities.
The flood can result in the loss or damage of essential household items. If victims find themselves unable to afford replacements, the association will provide a small amount of money to help with the purchase of these items. This support ensures that individuals and families can restore their basic living conditions.
Recognizing that some vulnerable individuals may struggle to obtain food in the aftermath of the flood, the association will provide food assistance. This aid ensures that no one goes hungry during this challenging time.
Students in primary or secondary schools who have suffered damage to their school uniforms, bags, or books due to the flood will receive support from the association. Donations will be made to help replace these essential items, enabling students to continue their education without disruption.
This approach ensures that the resources available are allocated where they can have the greatest impact, helping individuals and families recover and rebuild their lives in the wake of the flood.
“The main purpose of establishing this association is to assist those who are severely affected and in need of food donations and other support. The association also organises activities to support of the Youth of Penampang, such as community work and sports activities, while providing food aid. In the past, the association has collaborated with the Yayasan Bank Rakyat led by its chairman Datuk Philip Lasimbang. We have also worked with Datuk Ewon Benedick the Penampang's Member of Parliament, who is also the Minister of Entrepreneur Development and Cooperative, to assist him in delivering food, mattresses, and pillows to flood victims in affected villages around the Penampang District.”
