KOTA KINABALU: KPJ Sabah Specialist Hospital reinforced Sabah's rise as a health tourism hub during the first Sabah Agent On-Boarding and Familiarisation Programme, with Regional CEO East Malaysia, Dr Kenny Yeap Kim Pey, delivering a keynote on collaboration and patient-centred care.

Addressing distinguished guests including Sabah Tourism Board CEO Julinus Jeffery Jimit, Grandis Hotel Sales and Marketing Director Evangeline Tseu, and KPJ Sabah CEO Nor Aidil Ikram Muhamad, Dr Yeap welcomed agents and partners.

"It is truly a pleasure to stand before you today as we officially begin the first Sabah Agent On-Boarding and 3 Days 2 Nights Familiarisation Programme 2026," he said.

"Over the next few days, this programme is not just about learning, it is about connection, alignment, and building a shared vision for the future of medical tourism in Sabah."

Dr Yeap outlined the programme's purpose: deepening agents' knowledge of KPJ's offerings, providing hands-on facility exposure, and empowering them to promote Sabah confidently.

"You are not just agents. You are ambassadors of trust," he stressed. "You are often the first point of contact for patients making important, sometimes life-changing decisions about their health."

Highlighting Sabah's appeal, he noted: "Sabah holds immense potential as a health tourism hub. Beyond its natural beauty and cultural richness, Sabah offers something even more meaningful, trusted, accessible, and quality healthcare."

KPJ Sabah is investing in expertise and patient experience to ensure seamless journeys, he said.

The event celebrates partnerships with Sabah Tourism Board and Grandis Hotel.

"This partnership is a testament to what we can achieve when tourism and healthcare come together with a shared purpose," Dr Yeap remarked.

"Together, we are not just promoting destinations, we are creating holistic journeys that combine healing, comfort, and discovery."

Participants will immerse in hospital visits and cultural experiences, fostering ideas and relationships.

"We are excited about what lies ahead, and we look forward to building a stronger, more impactful health tourism ecosystem together," Dr Yeap concluded.
