KOTA KINABALU: The Kadazan Society Sabah (KSS) said it fully supports the calls for appropriate action to be taken against lawyer Marcel Jude Joseph if the relevant authorities find that any law had been broken.

This in response to the present sensitive issue of the viral Submission of which likened the annual Kaamatan Harvest Festival Beauty Pagent (Unduk Ngadau) to “an exotic cattle show”.

“If that was indeed stated then it is indeed derogatory and shameful not only to the contestants and organizers but also to the Kadazandusun, Rungus and Murut (KDMR) communities as a whole," said its secretary-general Batholomew Jingulam in his statement Tuesday.

Due to the sensitivity of the matter, he said it should not have been uttered in the first place as it has nothing to do with the bail application.

"We hope the police would also conduct a thorough investigation in respect of all reports lodged in respect of this matter and if an offence was committed, deal with it in accordance with the law.

"Perhaps the Native Courts due to their expertise in these matters should find ways to reprimand the person if they indeed find any offence and sentence him to any sentence available under Native Laws.

"Therefore, we in KSS fully support the statement by KDCA President Tan Sri Joseph Pairin Kitingan that the lawyer should be taken to task in the right manner and through the right channels," Batholomew asserted.
