KOTA KINABALU: Le Méridien Kota Kinabalu today presented a specially crafted commemorative cake to mark the 75th official birthday of Tuan Yang Terutama Tun Datuk Seri Panglima Haji Musa Aman, Sabah's 11th Yang di-Pertua Negeri.

Inspired by the Bantal Istiadat Diraja—a ceremonial royal cushion symbolising honour, dignity, and the grandeur of state traditions—the cake's elegant design draws on timeless cultural motifs for this significant occasion.

Measuring 90 cm x 70 cm and weighing 60 kg, the cake was meticulously prepared over five days by the hotel's culinary team. It incorporated 12 kg of eggs (480 eggs), 12 kg of flour, 11.8 kg of brown sugar, 13 kg of butter, 12 kg of custard cream, 15 kg of icing sugar, 300 g of cornflour, 5 units of flower gum paste, 1 litre of yam filling, 5 kg of whipping cream, 12 tins of condensed milk, 360 g of baking powder, and 2 kg of ground almonds.

"At Le Méridien Kota Kinabalu, we are honoured to contribute to this meaningful occasion through a creation that blends craftsmanship with respect for tradition," said Suresh Ramasamy, General Manager.

"The Bantal Istiadat Diraja inspiration allowed our team to craft a thoughtful centrepiece celebrating the event's significance."

With intricate detailing and careful finishing, the cake stands as a respectful tribute to cultural artistry and the milestone moment.
