Liew Yun Fah praises journalists on National Press Day 2026

KOTA KINABALU: Brigadier General (Rtd) Tan Sri Datuk Liew Yun Fah, president of the Parti Harapan Rakyat Sabah (PHRS), has expressed his appreciation for the media’s vital role in disseminating information and acting as the voice of the people.

In a message posted on his Facebook page to mark National Press Day (HAWANA) 2026, he extended his greetings to all media practitioners across the country.

He said he valued the close working relationship he has developed with members of the press throughout his political career, noting that journalists have stood by him through both good times and bad.

“Thank you for your cooperation during my time in politics. My ups and downs, my sorrows and joys, have been shared by members of the press,” said the Deputy Chairman of Gabungan Rakyat Sabah (GRS).

He added that journalists play a crucial role as the people’s voice and as the eyes of leaders, conveying what is happening on the ground.

He said the contributions of media practitioners are significant in ensuring the public receives accurate information, thereby helping to drive the nation’s development and progress.

“May my journalist colleagues continue to succeed and serve as catalysts for the country’s advancement,” he said.
