KOTA KINABALU: Former Sabah Minister of Trade and Industry, Datuk Seri Panglima Madius Tangau, has been appointed Chairman of POIC Sabah, while Datuk Roger Chin has been appointed the new Chairman of Invest Sabah Berhad.
Sabah Deputy Chief Minister III and Minister of Industrial Development, Entrepreneurship and Transport, Datuk Ewon Benedick, presented letters of appointment to the two new chairmen of the Palm Oil Industrial Cluster (POIC) Sabah Group and Invest Sabah Berhad.
At the same ceremony, former Sabah Customs Director Datuk Jonathan Kandok was appointed Deputy Chairman of POIC Sabah.

The letters of appointment were presented at a brief ceremony held at the Minister’s Office Meeting Room at Wisma Kewangan here today.
In his speech, Ewon said that the appointment of the three experienced figures reflects the state government’s commitment to ensuring that Sabah’s investment, industrial and logistics sectors continue to be driven in an orderly, inclusive and high-impact manner.
He also reiterated his commitment to continuing the implementation of the Sabah First agenda within the ministry, with a strong focus on, among other things, developing an investor-friendly and entrepreneur-friendly investment and entrepreneurship ecosystem.
“These appointments are in line with the ‘Sabah First’ approach, where the interests and benefits of the people and the economy of Sabah are always prioritised."
“I believe that with their extensive experience and expertise, POIC Sabah and Invest Sabah will continue to play a strategic role in attracting quality investments and enhancing the state’s competitiveness,” he said.
Meanwhile, all three appointees expressed their appreciation to the state government for the trust placed in them and pledged to carry out the mandate and responsibilities entrusted to them with full commitment.
