Malaysia Celebrates 50th Anniversary of Diplomatic Relations with Vietnam

KUALA LUMPUR: Malaysia extends warm congratulations to the Socialist Republic of Vietnam on the momentous occasion of its 78th National Day.

Datuk Ewon Benedick Minister of Entrepreneur Development and Cooperatives (MEDAC) said this in his speech during a reception to celebrate the 78th Anniversary of the National Day of Vietnam and 50th Anniversary of the Malaysia -Vietnam Diplomatic Relations.

He stated that Vietnam holds a significant position as a vital partner to Malaysia, both bilaterally and within the ASEAN community.

The enduring relations between the two countries have witnessed remarkable growth and this year, a remarkable milestone is reached as Malaysia and Vietnam joyously commemorate their 50th Anniversary of diplomatic relations, he said.

“The bond between Malaysia and Vietnam has strengthened over time, fostering cooperation in diverse sectors such as trade, education, culture, and diplomacy. The collaborative efforts have not only brought benefits to both nations but also contributed to regional stability and prosperity.”

The recent visit of Prime Minister Dato’ Seri Anwar Ibrahim to Vietnam in July 2023 has further solidified the close ties between the two nations.

The visit exemplified a shared commitment to nurturing and expanding the bilateral relationship, covering areas ranging from trade and investment to culture and education. Notably, the bilateral trade target of USD 18 billion has been surpassed, showcasing the significant outcomes of joint endeavors and reinforcing the prosperity of both populations while enhancing regional stability, he said.

He said the commemoration of the 50th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Malaysia and Vietnam stands as a testament to the enduring friendship and collaboration that has been cultivated over the years.

“As we stand on the threshold of a new era, let us continue to strengthen our partnership, build bridges of understanding and work together for a more prosperous, peaceful and harmonious world.”
