KOTA KINABALU: Malaysia’s homegrown Halal fast-food chain, Marrybrown, has officially launched its latest outlet at Centre Point Sabah, the iconic shopping mall situated in the heart of Sabah’s capital city.
The grand opening ceremony was officiated by Marrybrown’s Chief Executive Officer, Daniel Chan, and attended by several distinguished guests, including Haryanty Abu Bakar, Director of Tourism Malaysia Sabah; representatives from Centre Point management; franchise partners; officials from Kota Kinabalu City Hall; the Malaysian Fire and Rescue Department; and members of the local community.
Chan highlighted that the opening of this new outlet marks a significant milestone in Marrybrown’s continued expansion in Sabah.

“Our presence at Centre Point, a prime location in the heart of Kota Kinabalu, not only caters to increasing customer demand but also contributes meaningfully to the local economy through job creation and support for local entrepreneurship,” he said.
He added that the new outlet provides additional fast-food options for visitors to Centre Point while offering employment opportunities, particularly for local youth.
Founded in 1981 in Johor, Marrybrown has grown to operate over 500 outlets locally and internationally, including in the Maldives, Myanmar, the United Arab Emirates, Sweden, Singapore, and most recently, Australia.
Chan also shared that there are plans to further expand Marrybrown’s footprint throughout Sabah in the near future.
Marrybrown is well-regarded for its Halal-certified menu that marries local flavours with global favourites. Signature offerings include MB Nasi Lemak, MB Nasi Kandar, Authentic Tom Yam, Ayam Penyet, and the ever-popular Korean Sensasi range.
In addition to its dedication to food quality and customer service, Marrybrown is actively engaged in corporate social responsibility (CSR) initiatives. These efforts include disaster relief donations, the construction of children’s play areas in hospitals, and annual Ramadan activities such as the nationwide distribution of bubur lambuk at 25 mosques.
The ceremony concluded with expressions of heartfelt appreciation to all parties involved in the successful launch, followed by a lively celebration to mark the official opening of Marrybrown Centre Point, Kota Kinabalu.
