KOTA KINABALU: Police has nabbed a man believed to be the mastermind of a drug distribution syndicate in Inanam area.


Kota Kinabalu district police chief Assistant Commissioner Habibi Majinji said based on the investigation made by the Kota Kinabalu Headquarters’ Narcotics Criminal Investigation Department, the suspect was detained at the side of the road near Inanam Night Market at 8.30am on Oct 14.


“The 23-year-old suspect who has permanent resident status acted aggressively and try to run before being nabbed, thanks to the police’s quick action, the suspect was arrested.


“Upon inspection, the police found 205 pieces of straw containing syabu weighing 70.50 grams estimated to worth at RM7,050 in the suspect's trousers pocket.


“The modus operandi of the suspect with a permanent resident status was by getting a drug supply from a syndicate and selling in small quantities around Inanam town,” he said in a statement, Monday.

Habibi added that a Proton Saga vehicle was also seized for further investigation on suspicion of drug distribution activities.


This case is being investigated under Section 39B of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952 which provides for the death penalty if convicted and Section 7 ADB FOP 1988 for vehicle confiscation. The suspect is now remanded for further investigation.
