KUALA LUMPUR: The Malaysia External Trade Development Corporation (MATRADE) has announced that the International Sourcing Programme (INSP) will be held alongside the 21st Malaysia International Halal Showcase (MIHAS 2025).

For the first time, the physical session will take place at the Malaysia International Trade and Exhibition Centre (MITEC).

INSP MIHAS is a demand-driven initiative designed to connect international buyers with Malaysian exporters. Leveraging MATRADE’s global network of 48 offices, the programme facilitates targeted business matching and creates export opportunities across 19 sectors.

The event will be held in a hybrid format, with virtual sessions running from 1 April to 5 November, and the physical gathering scheduled for 17 September 2025 at MITEC.

Reflecting on last year’s achievements, MATRADE Chairman, Dato’ Seri Reezal Merican Naina Merican, stated that building on the strong momentum of MIHAS 2024, which generated RM4.3 billion in sales and attracted over 43,000 visitors from 90 countries, MIHAS 2025 is poised to reach new heights.

The target for this year is RM4.5 billion in Halal trade and 45,000 international visitors. He emphasised that the organisation is enhancing its global impact through smarter, technology-driven connections, with the AI-powered MADANI Digital Trade Platform playing a central role in enabling seamless and strategic matchmaking with both physical and virtual international buyers. This initiative aims to reinforce Malaysia’s position as a global leader in the Halal economy.

MATRADE’s Chief Executive Officer, Datuk Mohd Mustafa Abdul Aziz, highlighted that the relocation to MITEC signifies a bold new chapter for INSP MIHAS, reflecting Malaysia’s expanding influence in Halal trade.

As the event scales up, the organisation remains committed to forging meaningful global partnerships and creating greater market access for Halal businesses worldwide. Hosting the physical INSP MIHAS at MITEC provides Malaysian companies with a central platform to engage with a broader pool of international buyers and expand their reach in the global marketplace.

This year, MATRADE aims to achieve several key objectives. These include reaching RM4.5 billion in global Halal trade sales and welcoming 45,000 visitors.

The event will feature 45 country pavilions, 1,700 exhibitors, and 2,380 booths. Additionally, it aims to attract 250 buyers for the physical session at MITEC, engage 150 buyers virtually, and connect 50 premium buyers through INSP.

INSP MIHAS 2025 will showcase exporters across 19 sectors, including agricultural produce, apparel, garments and accessories, beverages, prepared foods, gloves, palm oil products, pharmaceuticals, toiletries and cosmetics, machinery and equipment, gifts, souvenirs and jewellery, packaging and containers, pet products, fashion accessories and textiles, footwear, logistics, Islamic financial services, franchising, information and communication technology, Islamic entertainment, and education.

Companies interested in participating can register online or via the QR code provided in promotional materials. The participation fee is RM120, which grants access to the MADANI Digital Trade (MDT) Platform, offering one-to-one business matching sessions and a digital directory to enhance global visibility.
