KOTA KINABALU: A Road Safety Campaign held at Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM) was successfully carried out in collaboration with the Road Transport Department (JPJ), ARM IMW Driving School, and the Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM), involving approximately 80 students alongside the UiTM principal and university representatives.
The campaign focused on enhancing awareness of road safety, particularly within the e-hailing industry, while also educating students on safe transportation practices and the importance of responsible road use.
Throughout the session, Maxim Malaysia delivered a comprehensive presentation consisting of more than 21 slides covering the company’s background, operational standards, and the e-hailing safety measures implemented by the company.
The presentation also highlighted various safety features within the application available to passengers and drivers, including the SOS Button, Live Tracking feature, visible driver information, and a 24-hour customer support system.
In addition, Maxim shared information on its stringent driver verification and selection procedures, legal requirements for drivers, disciplinary standards, as well as weekly training sessions conducted to ensure service quality and to strengthen road safety awareness among drivers.
“Safety has always been one of Maxim’s highest priorities. Through this campaign, we aim to educate young people on the importance of using safe and legally compliant e-hailing services, while also introducing the safety features available in the Maxim application such as the SOS Button, Live Tracking, driver information display, and our 24-hour support system. We believe that awareness and education are essential steps towards creating a safer transportation environment for all,” said Nazrin Muis, Development Manager of Maxim Kota Kinabalu.
In addition to introducing its safety features, Maxim emphasised that student safety is among the company’s key priorities, as university students are among the most active users of e-hailing services. Through continuous driver monitoring, identity verification, legal compliance by drivers, and 24-hour support, Maxim strives to provide a safer and more reliable travel experience for students in their daily activities such as attending classes, campus events, and personal travel.
“This programme provides students with a better understanding of road safety and how technology can enhance passenger protection when using e-hailing services. This sharing session has been highly beneficial, as many students rely on e-hailing services in their daily lives,” said the student representative.
The session received positive feedback from UiTM management and participants, and further strengthened professional ties between Maxim, JPJ, ARM IMW Driving School, and PDRM through constructive discussions and exchanges of ideas on transport safety and potential future community collaborations.
