MEMBAKUT: Rowindy Lawrence Odong, the United Progressive Kinabalu Organisation (UPKO) candidate for Membakut, continued her campaign efforts today with an extended walkabout at the Membakut tamu, where she spent the morning engaging closely with traders and local residents.
The tamu, which was bustling with its usual mix of fresh produce sellers, food stalls, and small-scale entrepreneurs, provided an ideal platform for Rowindy to meet constituents from across the area. Accompanied by her campaign team, she moved from stall to stall, greeting vendors, listening to their concerns, and introducing herself to first-time voters and long-time residents alike.
Rowindy distributed flyers outlining UPKO’s priorities, while several vendors took the opportunity to share issues such as rising costs, access to facilities, and support for small businesses. Customers stopping by the stalls also interacted with her, with many welcoming her presence and openly expressing their support.

Following the lively walkabout, Rowindy and her team continued their outreach with a visit to Kampung Lumat, where she spoke to residents about the core principles behind the SabahFirst ideology—an initiative centred on safeguarding Sabah’s rights, advancing equitable development, and empowering local communities.

Rowindy described the tamu visit as energising and said it strengthened her connection with the people of Membakut. She noted that the response throughout the day was encouraging and that many residents were receptive to her message.

“I shared that SabahFirst is about placing Sabahans at the heart of decision-making. It is about ensuring that every policy, every programme, and every development plan addresses the needs of our people first,” she said.
