BINTULU: Tourism, Arts and Culture (MOTAC) Minister Datuk Tiong King Sing called for aggressive action against rising drug abuse among youth while celebrating Sarawak's cultural heritage at a Pre-Gawai event with the N.69 Kemena Community last night.
"I was delighted to join the Pre-Gawai MOTAC Programme," Tiong said, noting the large turnout as a sign of "the spirit of unity and deep affection for Sarawak's culture and heritage."
He stressed the event's role in preserving Sarawak's unique identity, adding that Gawai symbolises "gratitude and harmony among our multi-ethnic society."

Malaysia’s multicultural Fabric, from Hari Raya Aidilfitri and Chinese New Year to Deepavali and Iban festivals, is "our strength," Tiong said.
He urged all to promote ethnic and religious traditions to ensure the young understand their heritage and bolster national unity.
Tiong then raised alarm over drug issues. "I have received numerous reports from parents that this problem is growing serious and has even spread to schools," he warned.
He called on police, AADK, and authorities to act "more decisively and aggressively" against the "destructive drug menace."
Tiong pledged full support, insisting on "firm action against anyone involved in drugs, for the sake of our nation's future and coming generations."
