KOTA KINABALU: Forty participants left a recent motherhood and leadership talk with renewed confidence, fresh perspectives, and practical insights on balancing family life and personal ambitions.
The programme, held at Zara’s Boutique Hotel in conjunction with Mother’s Day, was organised by Siti Syakila Zamzam and focused on sharing real-life experiences of women navigating the dual roles of motherhood and leadership.
Siti said the session was designed to create a safe and meaningful space for mothers to exchange knowledge, reflect on challenges, and learn from one another’s journeys.
“The aim was to explore how women face challenges as mothers and leaders, while also discussing their hopes for the future and for their children,” she said.
“I wanted to encourage open sharing so that women can support and empower each other.”
Drawing from her own observations growing up, Siti noted that many successful women often carry unseen struggles behind their achievements.
“I have always been curious about how they overcome difficulties and still present strength and positivity. I wanted to understand their stories and share them with others, so that more women can learn and feel empowered,” she added.
The programme featured carefully selected speakers, including experienced leaders who have successfully balanced multiple responsibilities.
Among them was Datuk Adeline Leong, who shared insights on managing leadership roles, community commitments, and raising a family.
Participants were exposed to practical strategies and personal reflections, allowing them to better understand how to navigate challenges in both their personal and professional lives.
Siti expressed hope that attendees would leave with greater self-belief and actionable ideas.
“I hope all participants gain new perspectives on how to improve themselves and become more confident in facing life’s challenges,” she said.
Beyond the discussions, the programme reinforced a central message, that women are capable of standing on their own while pursuing both family and leadership roles.
Siti, who is actively involved in several organisations including the Rotary Club of Kota Kinabalu, Sabah Women Entrepreneurs and Professional Association (SWEPA), and the Inner Wheel Club of Kota Kinabalu, said the initiative reflects her commitment to community development and women’s empowerment.
The event highlighted the importance of shared experiences and peer support, with many participants leaving inspired to apply what they had learned in their own lives and communities.
